The Experience Available from mid-November to April Step into the peaceful world of Finnish Lapland and experience one of its oldest and most cherished traditions with a visit to a local reindeer farm. Located in the beautiful Ylläs area, just 15 minutes from Ylläs and approximately 40 minutes from Levi, the farm offers an authentic and personal experience away from the busy tourist routes. Your visit begins by meeting the reindeer and their herder, who will introduce you to these incredible Arctic animals and share stories about reindeer herding, local traditions and everyday life in Lapland. Then it's time to settle into a traditional reindeer sleigh for a ride through the beautiful Lappish landscape. Wrapped up against the Arctic cold, you'll travel at a peaceful pace behind the reindeer, surrounded by snowy forests and the silence of nature. There will be plenty of opportunities along the way to stop, enjoy the surroundings and capture beautiful photographs with the reindeer a perfect memory from your time in Lapland. After the ride, you'll gather around a warm campfire and enjoy traditional soot pot coffee together with mettäkako, a local pastry. While warming up by the fire, you'll hear stories from the reindeer herder about the animals, reindeer herding and life in the Arctic. This is more than just a reindeer sleigh ride it's a chance to slow down, meet local people and experience an authentic part of Lapland's culture and traditions. Afterwards, gather around the fire in a traditional hut to roast sausages or buns, enjoy hot drinks, and listen to the reindeer herder's stories about reindeer and life in the North.
